LA City Measure FD half-cent sales tax for LAFD on Nov. 3rd

LOS ANGELES- It's that time of the year again, On Nov 3rd 2026 Angelinos will have an Initiative Ordinance FD, a ballot that proposes a half-cent (0.5%) city sales tax dedicated to funding the Los Angeles Fire Department LAFD.


According to the official ballot language filed with the Los Angeles County County Clerk , the measure would raise approximately $325 million a year until ended by voters. Proceeds would support hiring firefighters, paramedics and other staff, purchasing and maintaining vehicles and equipment, building and upgrading fire stations and brush clearance. The ordinance requires annual audits and a citizens oversight committee.




Supporters listed on the ballot materials include Los Angeles City Firefighters , the LAFD Chief Officers Association, California Professional Firefighters and the International Association of Firefighters. The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is listed as an opponent.


The Measure needs a simple majority. It is separate from the Los Angeles County's Measure ER half-cent sales tax, which takes effect Oct.1st 2026. If the FD passes ,shoppers in the city of Los Angeles would pay both the county and city increments on taxable purchases.



The Registrar-Recorder's final measures list for the Nov 3rd general election shows 68 measures across 47 jurisdictions countywide, including dozens of local tax, bond and fee proposals. FD is the largest single municipal sales-tax ask on that ballot by projected annual revenue.

  Downey is putting up $10 million in city money to buy out Downey Nissan’s lease so the dealership can move and clear the site for a new COSTCO gas station on Firestone BLVD. In other words the Nissan dealership will move across the street to make way for the COSTCO gas only station. Records show Andrews Rancho owns the property . BCH Holdings LLC, associated with the Nissan dealership, holds a long term lease under a December 2015 lease agreement  In June the council. LAX service worker and Lennox man charged after fentanyl found in airport bathroom

By The Southbound 105 LOS ANGELES — An employee of a service provider at Los Angeles International Airport and another Lennox resident have been charged in a federal criminal complaint with possessing about 11 kilograms (24.3 pounds) of fentanyl found in an airport bathroom and intended for transport on a Minnesota-bound flight, Argonaut News reported, citing a Justice Department announcement. Miguel Angel Tuz-Noh, 24, of Lennox, who works at LAX, and Anthony Olvera, 23, also of Lennox, are charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, according to Argonaut News. Both defendants were arrested Aug. 19 and made their initial appearances Aug. 21 in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles, the newspaper reported. A federal magistrate judge ordered each released on $10,000 bond. Their arraignments are scheduled for Sept. 17, according to Argonaut News.
