Cooling, then rain. The National Weather Service in Los Angeles says a significant cool-down continues through midweek. Airlines
LAX this morning. The FAA's National Airspace System status page early Monday showed no departure or arrival delay programs at LAX. A standing notice restricts non-scheduled transient general aviation aircraft without prior permission.
New carrier eyes LA. South Korea's Parata Air is setting up a Los Angeles branch and aims to launch service to LA in May 2027, according to The Asia Business Daily. It named Brian Kim, previously Air Premia's first Los Angeles branch manager, to run the office.
Elsewhere this morning. The FAA listed ground delay programs at San Diego (about 54 minutes average, airport volume) and San Francisco (about 55 minutes, low ceilings).
Taxes
Billionaire tax fight. Proposition 40, a proposed one-time 5% tax on Californians with net worth of at least $1 billion, remains one of the biggest money fights on the Nov. 3 ballot. Opponents have raised more than $340 million and are spending more than $1 million a day, according to The Guardian, citing state disclosures. The yes campaign has raised just under $33 million. Two countermeasures, Propositions 41 and 42, could block it if either gets more yes votes.
Five tax measures. CalMatters says Props. 3, 40, 41, 42 and 43 make this the most tax measures on one California ballot since 1990.
Property tax bills. The LA County Treasurer and Tax Collector is mailing about 2.4 million 2026-27 secured property tax bills on or before Nov. 1. The first installment is due Nov. 1 and becomes delinquent after close of business Thursday, Dec. 10.
